About FinanceOpen
An independent, India-focused finance education platform that explains tax and money clearly, shows its sources, and never sells you anything in disguise.
Last updated
FinanceOpen helps people in India understand money matters that affect their everyday lives: how their income is taxed, when GST applies, what their salary slip really says, and what changes when they work with clients abroad or live outside India.
We started FinanceOpen because good financial information in India is often hard to find. Many pages are written to collect leads, push a product, or rank in search results. Others are accurate but written for professionals. We want to sit in the middle: accurate enough for an expert to respect, and clear enough for anyone to follow.
What we do
- Explain. We write guides in plain English, with worked examples that use realistic numbers.
- Show our sources. Every guide lists the official sources it relies on, such as the Income Tax Department, CBIC and the GST portal.
- Label the law and the year. Every guide states which law and which tax year it covers. Rules change every year, and that label tells you whether a page applies to you.
- Build honest tools. Our calculators show how they reach each number. A calculator goes live only after its rules have been tested and checked by a qualified professional.
- Invite expert review. Qualified professionals review our guides and tools. We name a reviewer on a page only when they have actually approved that version.
What we do not do
- We do not give personal tax, legal or investment advice.
- We do not recommend stocks, trading strategies or financial products.
- We do not sell your details or pass you to service providers for a fee.
- We do not use AI to guess tax amounts. Every number in our calculators comes from written, tested rules.
Who we write for
Our first focus is India’s freelancers and independent professionals: developers, designers, writers, marketers, consultants and creators, many of whom are paid by clients abroad. We also write for salaried professionals and, over time, for NRIs and small business owners.
