How to report a mistake on FinanceOpen and how we fix it.

Last updated

We work hard to get things right, and we would rather hear about a mistake than leave it on the site.

How to report an error

Use the “Report an error” link at the end of any guide, question or calculator, or choose “Report an error or outdated information” on our contact page. Tell us which page and what you think is wrong. A link to an official source helps us check quickly. Please do not send personal tax documents.

What we do next

  1. We aim to acknowledge reports within five working days.
  2. An editor checks the point against official sources and, where needed, with an expert reviewer.
  3. If the page is wrong, we correct it. If the error is in a calculator, we take the calculator back to review and fix the rules before it goes live again.

How corrections are shown

For errors that could have affected a reader’s understanding or decision, we add a short correction note at the end of the page, stating what changed and when. Spelling, formatting and broken links are fixed without a note.

When a correction changes reviewed content, the reviewer’s name is removed until they approve the corrected version.
