Privacy policy

What personal data FinanceOpen collects, why, how long we keep it, and your rights.

This policy explains how FinanceOpen, published by the FinanceOpen editorial team, handles personal data. We collect as little as we can.

What we collect

  • Calculator entries: nothing. Our calculators run in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us or stored by us.
  • Contact messages. If you use our contact form, we receive your email address, your message, the page you mention and, if you give it, your name.
  • Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the date you gave consent, the exact consent wording you agreed to, and the date you confirmed by email.
  • Technical data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and reliability. Where we measure site usage, we use privacy-friendly analytics that do not use advertising cookies. For abuse prevention we store a one-way coded version of your IP address, never the address itself.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your message or correction.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for, until you unsubscribe.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell personal data, share it for advertising, or pass it to service providers for referrals.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: deleted automatically after 12 months.
  • Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups: deleted after 7 days.
  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only a record that you unsubscribed.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its rules, you can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw your consent at any time, and raise a grievance. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.

Grievance contact: please use our contact form and choose "A general question or feedback", mentioning "privacy request".

Children

FinanceOpen is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change and show the date of the latest version.
